High holy days 2024

As we gather to observe the High Holy Days (HHD), we welcome you to a season of reflection, renewal, and connection. This sacred time invites us to pause, look inward, and embrace the opportunity for spiritual growth and transformation. Whether you are joining us in person or online, we are grateful to share these meaningful moments with you.

These sacred days, beginning with Rosh HaShanah and culminating in Yom Kippur, offer a unique opportunity for spiritual growth and communal connection. Temple Sinai members are invited to join in a series of services, each designed to inspire and uplift as we enter the Jewish New Year together.

We've designed a vibrant array of services and events to engage our community and support our observance.

WHAT IS THE Youth Experience?

This year, we have programs for both Rosh HaShanah on Thursday, October 3rd at 10 AM and Yom Kippur on Saturday, October 12  at 10 AM.

There will be plenty of activities, discussions, games (with prizes!), and even a special themed snack!

This program is suitable for students, K-6th Grade.

What is the Intergenerational Service?

This year, we are offering an Intergenerational Service for both Rosh HaShanah on Thursday, October 3rd  at 3:30 PM and Yom Kippur on Saturday, October 12 directly following the main service (around 12:15 PM).

This service is the perfect opportunity for families to come together for a developmentally appropriate liturgy that children can share with the adults in their lives. Please note, this is not a Tot Service, although younger children are certainly welcome and encouraged to attend!

We look forward to seeing your family during these wonderful opportunities to celebrate, learn, and create special memories together as we usher in the New Year!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!

We encourage 7th grade students and older to participate in the main sanctuary services.

Announcements & Opportunities

Book of Remembrance

As we approach the High Holy Days, Temple Sinai honors the memory of our loved ones, who remain the foundation of our rituals, traditions, and identities. Through our Yizkor Service and the Book of Remembrance, we keep their legacies alive. The Book of Remembrance, distributed on Yom Kippur, offers a meaningful way to memorialize those we've lost through an act of tzedakah, supporting our Temple.

Members have been mailed a form to participate, which should be returned to the office.

Yizkor Montage

It is traditional to remember those who are no longer with us during the Yizkor Service on Yom Kippur afternoon. During the silent remembrance portion of this ritual, we will play a montage with photos of loved ones who have passed. If you would like your loved one(s) to be featured in this slideshow, please email Rabbi Baden at rabbibaden@templesinailv.org a photo (jpeg or png format), along with the loved one’s name and relationship to you.

Submission deadline to share the photo and information with Rabbi is Wednesday, October 2.

Open/ Close the Ark

The Spiritual Enrichment Committee has reserved a limited number of opportunities for Temple Sinai members in good standing to Open/Close the Ark at our upcoming Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur Services. Please email Les Gilbert to Sign Up. Click HERE to email.
