In Pirke Avot 5:24, the Ethics of our Fathers, a compilation of our sages' sayings, Rav Judah ben Tema wrote:

At five, one should study Scripture;
  At ten, one should study mishnah [the code of Jewish law];
  At thirteen one is ready to do mitzvot;
  At fifteen one is ready to study Talmud [the commentary on the mishnah];
  At eighteen, one is ready to get married;
  At twenty, one is responsible for providing for a family;
  At thirty, one is at the peak of one’s powers;
  At age forty, one is at the age of understanding;
  At age fifty, one attains the age of counsel;
  At age eighty, one attains the age of strength.

The Mark L. Haberkorn Religious School is dedicated to positive and engaging Jewish education to inspire lifelong participation in the Jewish community for all our preschool through twelfth grade learners. In partnership with our families and the synagogue community as a whole, the school provides meaningful learning through both formal and experiential education.

Preschool - Second Grade

Religious School meets every Sunday from 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM,  beginning in August and continuing on through May, the school follows the Clark County School District calendar in conjunction with the Hebrew calendar to give our students and families the best education on a schedule that makes sense.

Students can create lasting memories while learning and celebrating the Jewish holidays, taking part in Shabbat services and community life cycle events, all while being introduced to Hebrew.

Third - Seventh Grade

Religious School meets on Sundays from 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM, and Wednesdays from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM.

At this level, our students are prepared to take on a life richer in Jewish tradition and absorb the meaning and value behind the prayers, songs and routines associated with  Jewish life cycle events . This is when students participate in T'fillah, dive deeper into Hebrew, and prepare themselves to become a B'Mitzvah.

As part of the B'Mitzvah program, students and their families participate in the B'Mitzvah Family Group, led by Rabbi Baden and Cantorial Soloist Klein. This group focuses on the integration of Jewish wisdom while providing support and a sense of belonging as families approach the exciting albeit stressful next step in Jewish life.

Confirmation

Students in our Confirmation class meet weekly on Wednesdays from 5:30 PM-6:30 PM. For those students interested in volunteer hours, the opportunity to support our younger students in the Religious School is available.
